Exposition of SPANTAX
SPANTAX was one of the largest European charter airlines and the number one in the charter business in Spain. Founded in 1959 by the former Iberia Captain Mr. Rodolfo Bay Wright and Mrs. Marta Estades Sáez, former Iberia stewardess as well, this airline wrote many glory pages in the history of Spanish aviation and, of course, its contribution to develop the tourism in Spain was undeniable.
On October the 6th, 1959 a new airline was born in Spain under the name Spanish Air Taxis to provide ad-hoc air taxi services. The operations base was situated in the Canary Islands while the headquarters were located in Madrid.
The key of the company's success was their join with Club de Vacaciones and the arrival of the Convair 990 Coronado to the airline's fleet.
